
Online Yin Yoga

As you can see from the photo I am teaching from my apartment in Athens at the moment, embracing technology! This online Yin yoga class is focused on spine and joint health, increasing flexibility & releasing tension held in the body. It involves a mindful sequence of functional yoga and Yin style poses followed by restorative guided relaxation. Yin yoga poses are mainly seated, supine or prone as we aim to be still once we relax into the pose. They are held for longer periods of time (around 2 minutes), the emphasis is also on how the pose feels rather than how it looks. As this is a still practice we aim to stimulate deeper tissues than we would in a more active/Yang style of yoga. Yin yoga is accessible to most people as it is a simple practice however it is every bit as challenging as other styles of yoga if not more so. I’ve listed some of the benefits of Yin yoga however there are many more! - Improves range of motion and flexibility - Improves posture, joint and spine health - Reduces stress, lowers blood pressure - Nourishes organs through acupressure - Turns off the sympathetic nervous system - fight or flight response and brings us into rest and digest
