🎣 Hooked on the Solent Date: May 16th, 2026 Location: Eastney Beach, Portsmouth Time: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM Competition Time: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM Please arrive an hour before the competition to complete the sign up procedure and peg draw. Are you ready to test your skills on the shore? Join us for a high-stakes, team-based fishing competition! Grab a partner and compete for glory across five zones to see who can claim the title of Top Angler. 🏆 Competition Format & Rules Teams: 20 teams of two. Gear: 2 rods per team. Both partners are encouraged to bait up, cast, and fish simultaneously. Zones: The beach is divided into 5 zones (A–E) with 4 designated pegs per zone. Fair Play: Each zone is supervised by a Marshal equipped with official measuring gear and high-vis attire. Catch & Release: All fish will be held in buckets for official measurement and promptly released to ensure sustainability. 📅 Registration Details Deadline: Sign up by May 9th. Entry Fee: £5 per team. Equipment: Anglers supply their own bait and tackle. ⏱️ Event Schedule Check-in: Meet at the Decathlon Base (Gazebo) to draw your peg number and collect your official capture sheet. Lines In: 10:00 AM Lines Out: 3:00 PM (5-hour duration) 🎁 Prizes & Awards We are rewarding skill, variety, and luck! Zone-Specific Prizes: Longest Fish (per zone) Highest Total Points (per zone) Overall Grand Prizes: – Gold, Silver, and Bronze for Highest Total Points. – Award for the Longest Fish of the day. – Award for the Most Species caught. Note to Participants: If a Marshal is occupied during a catch, a neighboring angler may witness and verify the capture to keep the action moving!
